Why I moved from Octopus to EDF for import and export
A holding post for updating my home energy setup now that import and export have moved from Octopus to EDF.
This is a starter post ready to expand.
I have moved my home energy supply away from Octopus and now use EDF for both import and export. That changes how I need to think about my automations, battery behaviour, export value and the way I judge whether a smart home routine is actually saving money.
The next version of this post will cover:
- why I moved supplier
- what changed for import pricing
- what changed for export payments
- how this affects the Powerwall
- what I need to review in Home Assistant
- what I would check before changing supplier again
For now, the key lesson is simple: supplier changes are not just billing changes. They can change the logic behind every energy automation in the house.
